No One is Illegal
Recently we have been seeing this orange man with a bad toupee in the news named Donald Trump
who has been telling people of different origins to “go back to where they came from”.
This man is supposed to be the president of the United States, but there is no way we can have a
racist in office. Yes I know what I said, he is racist!

With the previous November midterm elections we elected many women of color into Congress and
history was made that night. Since then many other women of color have been inspired and
empowered thanks to these ladies. Most recently, Trump attacked four of these women in Congress
when he told them to “go back to where they came from” in a tweet. These women are Alexandria
Ocasio-Cortez, Ilham Omar, Rashia Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley.

Trump had a rally in Greenville, North Carolina last night (July 17th) as well and in the middle of the
rally the crowd began to chant, “send her back!”, referring to congresswoman Ilham Omar. Ilham
was born in Somalia, but when she was eight years old her family fled the country because of the
civil war that was happening. Ilham and her family came to the United States in 1997. She is now
a citizen and an outstanding politician from Minnesota.
Trump has been receiving all of the attention that he just loves, but the way he is doing it is wrong,
hurtful, and reckless. With all of this going on, there is still an immigration crisis happening at our
southern border too.
Families are being separated, children are dying, and the conditions of the detention centers are
getting worse day by day. The Trump administration is currently moving to end asylum protections
for Central Americans. With that, there was recently a Guatemalan boy who was traveling through
Mexico to make his way up to the U.S. Him and his father used a coyote to help them, but the coyote
left them stranded in the state of Veracruz and they were kidnapped by a cartel. They killed the father
and slit the boy’s throat and left them on the side of the road. The boy was found alive and is now
These are examples of the things we see immigrants go through to have a better life here in the United
States. There is violence, death, and cruelty in all of this. Most importantly there are kids living
through this and seeing this. Children as young as 2 years old!
through this and seeing this. Children as young as 2 years old!
Now tell me this, could you imagine if that was your kid? If that was your brother, sister, grandchild, cousin, etc.? Could you imagine seeing war and violence in your home country and try to come to another country to escape all of that and end up being abused, locked up, or even killed during the migration? The ones who need to be asked these questions are the one’s in the Trump administration since they still do not get it.
Hopefully this will be fixed. Until then we must continue the fight. Call your representatives and senators to tell them how you feel about all of this. Continue to use your voice for those that are silenced. And continue to pray and hope that our country will get better.
